he employment contract for Little Rock School District Superintendent Mike Poore was renewed on April 3, 2017 for an additional two years by Arkansas Education Commissioner Johnny Key. The contract extends Poore's role at the state's largest district to June 30, 2019.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and excited to continue our work with the students, parents and staff of LRSD," said Poore. "The passion and commitment of this community towards our schools and students are evident, and I am proud to be a part of the team."

During Poore's brief tenure with LRSD, he has introduced several innovative, programs and initiatives and garnered widespread support for students and families from stakeholders that include community leaders and business partners, as well as faith-based organizations.

"Together, we have taken significant steps in moving our district forward, building positive relationships, and providing a rigorous academic environment to improve and prepare our students for a global marketplace," Poore said.

"I am energized and inspired about what the future holds for our district," he added.
