Lamar Walker and Sidney Smith each scored two touchdowns Friday night as the Watson Chapel Wildcats went on the road and defeated the Little Rock Fair War Eagles 35-6. Walker (14-95yds) got his first score on a two-yard run less than two minutes into the game that capped a three-play, 40-yard drive. Abdulaziz Nahshal added the first of his two PAT’s to give the ’Cats a 7-0 lead.
Fair (0-8,0-5 5A Central) fumbled on its first offensive play in the wet conditions to give the Wildcats the ball at the War Eagle 19 yard line. Smith (15-131yds) would cap the two-play drive with a 12-yard scoring run to give the visitors a 13-0 lead after the failed point-after. Both teams would trade interceptions before Watson Chapel (5-3,2-2 5A Central) would block a Fair punt and recover the ball at the Eagle 26. Smith would take it in on the first play to give Chapel a 20-6 halftime lead after the extra point. Both teams would have trouble with fumbles to end the half.
Chapel would block another punt on Fair’s second drive of the third quarter and it would result in a safety. Walker would get his second touchdown of the night on the free kick when he would cap the 57-yard drive with an 18-yard run late in the quarter. Nathan Box added the PAT for a 29-6 lead. Johnathan Walker would get the last touchdown of the night on the ’Cats final drive when he took it in from eight yards out. The blocked point-after left the final at 35-6. Both teams finished the night with four turnovers each. Chapel didn’t complete a pass all night as Devin Curry sat out the game to recover from nagging injuries. Ricky Farver went the distance at quarterback for the Wildcats.
Watson Chapel will host the Pulaski Academy Bruins (6-2,4-1 5A Central) this Friday night for Senior Night. The game can be heard locally beginning at 6:30 with the Jefferson Regional Wildcat Pregame on 98.1, the Hog.
